Oils Book PageThe use of anointing oil is mentioned numerous times in both the Old and New Testament. Oil is used in the Bible to heal, remove sin, invigorate the body, and protect from evil.In Isaish 1:6 the prophet speaks of the need for the body to be "mollified with ointment." In James 5:14-15 we are given instructions for the use of oils: “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven”Old time workers of the 19th and early 20th centuries prepared anointing oils and conjure ointments using herbs, roots, pure essential oils, and carriers such as Olive Oil. Often these infused oils would be kept on hand for days or weeks before use in order to draw the magical and healing properties from the herbs. By the mid 20th century, as synthetic fragrances and mineral oil flooded the market, hand-blended oils made with real roots and herbs decreased in availability, replaced by cheap scents and colored petroleum oil.Today we have seen a reemergence of quality hand-made oils, using long-lasting Almond Oil as a carrier, with real roots, herbs, and minerals in each bottle. We strongly recommend all of the quality oils produced by the Lucky Mojo Curio Company. They are not only hand-crafted, but each small custom-made batch is prayed over for the success of the work in which it will be used.
How Oils Are Used in Hoodoo PracticesCandle Magic - Oils are used to dress and anoint candles. On offertory and figural candles, oils are anointed on the candles towards the body or the wick end to draw in positive conditions, and drawn away to remove conditions. Condition oils are also put on the top of glass encased vigil candles to burn down with the melted wax.Perfumes - One of the most common ways to use conjure oils is to wear them as a perfume on the body. For love drawing oils, they are traditionally worn on the neck or wrists. Sex drawing oils may be worn on the groin area. Psychic oils, power oils, and success oils may be worn on the center of the forehead or over the crown of the head.Blended or Mixed - Hoodoo Oils can beadded to massage lotions, combined with ointments or even added to shower gels, or hand soap. A particularly sneaky trick is to put compelling or controlling oil in the liquid wash soap of a company.Roots and Curios - Conjure oils are used to increase the effectiveness of certain roots and curios. Lodestones can be dressed with lodestone oil or money drawing oil. Dress John the Conquerer Roots with John the Conquerer Oil. A very popular choice for dressing roots and curios is Lucky Mojo Van Van Oil.Feeding Mojos - Mojo Bags, Gris Gris Balls, Jack Balls and Nation Sacks are often fed with Hoodo oils. While feeding a mojo with whiskey is traditional, it has become common to use a condition oil to increase the draw of the bag.
